Arriva

August 1, 2018/0 Comments/in News /by Daisy Francis

Arriva contacted Telepen as they needed a solution for recording students, from the University of Nottingham, using their bus routes around the City. They wanted students to be able to present their existing student cards on an Arriva bus and then be able to feed this information back to the university.

At Telepen we pride ourselves on being able to offer bespoke solutions to our customers and were delighted to broaden our client base to include Arriva. Our Sales Account Manager, Kevin Sontag, met with the tech team from Arriva on a number of occasions and developed a bespoke solution repurposing existing hardware and utilising our in house software development team to create new software.

This summer, in time for the start of the new term, 10 Telepen RB2 boxes were installed onto Arriva buses in Nottingham.

Sentry User Group 2018 Feedback

February 3, 2018/0 Comments/in News /by Daisy Francis

We recently held our Biannual Sentry User Group Event at the University of Bedfordshire and despite the weather there was a great turn out. Thank you to all those who braved the snow to come and see us.

The Sentry User Group Event is held to allow us to showcase to all our Sentry Customers new and forthcoming developments. It gives the users themselves a chance to network and we also like to hear from you about any further developments/ new ideas you would like to see from us.

At this year’s event we invited all our delegates to partake in a live demo of our new StudyTime app which was created as a solution to study space monopolizing. We also introduced Vantage which is an add on to Sentry Juno and allows live occupancy information to be displayed. If you would like further information on either of these products please do get in touch.

We held breakout sessions on Room booking and Juno and some interesting development suggestions were put to us. In Juno we discussed the use of mobile phones for access control.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the University of Bedfordshire for their hospitality and for inviting all our delegates on a tour around their new library, also thank you to Marcus Woolley for your warm welcome. We would also like to thank Tim Graves our guest speaker from the University of Sussex for his presentation, it was very well received.

If you would like us to send you the PowerPoint Presentation and minutes from the event please email sales@telepen.co.uk.

We had some great feedback from the event and look forward to seeing you all at the next one.

Mary Rose Museum

July 20, 2016/in News /by Daisy Francis

The exciting new £27 million Mary Rose Museum opened its doors to visitors on Friday 31st May 2013. Located just metres from Nelson’s flagship, HMS Victory and the ships of the modern Royal Navy, the new museum provides one of the most significant insights into Tudor life and creates the new centrepiece to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The Tudor ship that captured the world’s imagination when she was raised from the seabed in 1982 is the only sixteenth century warship on display anywhere in the world and the brand new purpose built museum built around her reunites her with many of her 19,000 artefacts and crew. To ensure the safety and security of visitors and staff, Fastlane Glasswing turnstiles were specified by Telepen Barcode Solutions, the project security integrator and supplier of the ticket validation system and occupancy software. The integration allows users to book and pay for tickets online, print a time allocated ticket and then access the museum without any staff intervention.

Mary Rose Museum Glasswing Approved.pdf

“We are delighted to have the involvement of Fastlane in the overall package which provides excellent ticket control and access to the new museum. The system has been working well since opening our doors to the public”. Robert Lapraik, Deputy Chief Executive.

The Glasswing units chosen to manage the entrance way for visitors replicate the original shape of the Mary Rose and the new facility built to house her whilst themselves housing the very highest specification detection and safety systems. “The extra low power consumption and low carbon footprint of the products fit well with the ethos and conservational nature of the historic dockyard.” Says Phil Allen UK Regional Sales Manager for IDL.

Mary Rose Museum Glasswing Approved.pdf

“We were pleased to work with Fastlane and the Trust to produce the ideal barrier specification. The Glasswing barriers and our access control system allow the Museum to maintain occupancy within desired levels.” Added Kevin Sontag of Telepen.

Shakespeare: Metamorphosis

April 15, 2016/in News /by Daisy Francis

University of London Senate House Library are hosting a major William Shakespeare exhibition and have chosen Telepen to pre-print their souvenir entrance tickets.  Organisers wanted tickets that would serve as security passes but also as a memento for visitors to keep.  Telepen were able to print the colour gloss tickets to a very tight timeframe.  The tickets include a unique barcode which is used to gain access through Telepen Sentry turnstiles within the library.

The event is a celebration of Shakespearean text and scholarship over seven ages, and is suitably titled Metamorphosis.  Running from 14th April to 17th September 2016, the exhibition, timed to coincide with the 400th anniversary of his death, includes a full program of events.  Details can be found at http://shakespeare.senatehouselibrary.ac.uk

Nick Barratt, Associate Director, Collections & Engagements, Senate House Libraries had this to say:

‘This is a major initiative for Senate House Library, and we are therefore delighted to be working with partners such as Telepen to help us realise our ambition to increase the number of people that use and enjoy our rich collections.’
