Book Sortation System at University of Manchester

July 6, 2019/0 Comments/in News /by Daisy Francis

Telepen Engineers have completed the installation of a new Lyngsoe Systems, Automated Material Handling Sorting System, at the University of Manchester main library.

The University of Manchester is Britain’s largest single-site university and houses more than four million printed books. Their primary aim, with the procurement of a Book Sortation System, was to support the students and staff in all areas of their studies.

At the end of February 2019 we were delighted to have been informed of winning the tender and installation has been completed ahead of the new school year. Personally we think it looks great.

We also welcome the library to our growing list of self-service customers.

Senate House Open Day

January 24, 2019/0 Comments/in News /by Daisy Francis

Having installed new Self-Service equipment at the Senate House Library in the Summer 2018 we decided to hold an open day event in order to show case and further discuss these products. A number of our current Access Control customers came along with a few new faces also in attendance. Telepen Sales Account Manager, Kevin Sontag, presented at the event giving a background talk on Telepen and our products/ solutions. As the Senate House Account Manager he also briefly discussed the Self-Service installation. We then left it to Chris Foreman, Associate Director at Senate House, to discuss the products and Telepen’s installation in detail. Chris provided an honest and comprehensive account, including lessons learnt, which stared a great discussion in the room. We also had talks from Benjamin Audibert, from FE Technologies, Barney Yabbacome, Service and Installation Manager at Telepen and Fran Frenzel, Metadata and Discovery Manager from Senate House, gave a demonstration of the Live Scanning Wand and answered any user questions.

Overall we had a great day and received some really positive feedback. If you would like further information on any of our solutions or to request a copy of the presentation from the day please get in touch.

University of Liverpool Open Day

November 8, 2018/0 Comments/in News /by Daisy Francis

After a successful installation of new self-service and book sorting equipment at both the Sydney Jones and the Harold Cohen libraries we decided to host an open day in order to showcase these products to our current access control customers as well as potential new customers.

Leading the event was Telepen’s Sales and Marketing Director and University of Liverpool’s Account Manager, Alan Elkes. Alan has been working with the University of Liverpool for many years and was delighted to have won the tender to supply the university with their self-service equipment.

Roy McCready, Systems Manager at the University of Liverpool, provided an introduction for the day and along with Niall Rowe, Systems Officer at the University of Liverpool, provided a demonstration of both the Lyngsoe Sorter and the FE Technologies Self-Service Kiosks. Both Roy and Niall are extremely pleased with how the installation went and feel the new equipment will have a positive impact in the library.

The installation included:

The Sydney Jones Library included four self-service stations, book security gates, a circulation assistant and a 9 way sorter.

The Harrold Cohen Library included two self-service stations, book security gates, a circulation assistant and a 5 way sorter

Also speaking at the event was Henrik Kjeldgaard, Business Unit Director at Lyngsoe Systems. Henrik was on hand to answer questions on the Sorter but to also give a talk on IMMS, Intelligent Media Management System. IMMS is a new product based on chaotic storage management which we are discussing with our customers. After the presentation the feedback was mostly positive with all expressing that they found it very interesting.

Overall the day was a success and we were pleased to see everyone who attended there. For anyone that was unable to attend we would be happy to discuss other opportunities to see the equipment in a live environment or provide a personal demonstration of the self-service kiosk.

If you have any questions or would like further information please get in touch.

APUC

October 16, 2018/0 Comments/in News /by Daisy Francis

Telepen won three major tenders for self-service at the University of Liverpool, the University of Sheffield and the Senate House Library at the University of London over the last year and a half.

We are delighted to announce that we have also this summer been appointed to the APUC framework for Library Security and Self-Service Equipment and Maintenance.

APUC, Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges, released the Tender in May and selected just three companies to be part of the framework. Having only been supplying self-service equipment for around 18 months we were delighted to be selected and look forward to being part of the APUC framework.

We feel we have great products and solutions which will positively impact on both the student and library team’s user experience and would be delighted to discuss these further.

Please get in touch with any queries or questions you might have.

Milton Keynes College

September 16, 2018/0 Comments/in News /by Daisy Francis

Milton Keynes College completed a review of security across its campus and set up a working group to review options. The review considered historical evidence of incidents and the current measures of access control security and resulted in the decision to install barrier systems at the entry points to the three main campus buildings where the main high traffic points are found.

The College put out a Tender and Telepen were delighted to have won. Telepen installed new IDL Fastlane Glassgate 150’s at the entrance to the Bletchley main building, the Chaffron Way main building and the ITC building.

Fastlane Glassgates are the very latest in high tech entrance control systems ensuring only one person gains access for each authorised card presented. Multi-beam infrared matrices detect user passage through the lanes and activate the glass panels accordingly. Operative at speed, they are easy to use, astatically pleasing and can process up to 60 people per minute.

September 3, 2018/0 Comments/in News /by Daisy Francis

As part of the Durham University refurbishment to their Law extension, Telepen were delighted to work with Sendrig Construction in supplying and installing new IDL Fastlane Intelligate 300 access control gates.

The University chose the Fastlane Intelligates for their extra wide lane widths and tall glass barrier heights.

The Fastlane Intelligate 300 is a bi-directional, dual swing glass barrier, motorised entrance gate with optical monitoring that has been designed to provide an extra wide lane to a turnstile installation; suitable for all users, including people with reduced mobility and wheelchair users, as well as facilitating the movement of goods deliveries.
